The Board of Directors is responsible for providing governance and oversight regarding the strategy, operations and management of the IAJC.

Chairman
Mark Rajai, California State University – Northridge

Dr. Mark Rajai is the founder, Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of International Association of Journals and Conferences (IAJC). Dr. Rajai is responsible for both the strategic vision and daily operation of the organization.  Prior to establishing IAJC, Dr. Rajai founded two U.S.-based startup companies and served as CEO and president of both companies.  Dr. Rajai also founded the well-known International Journal of Modern Engineering (IJME) and serves as its editor-in-chief ever since. IJME is considered a leader among international engineering journals. He also serves on the boards of several journals, organizations and companies.

Dr. Rajai is an internationally recognized researcher and educator in filed of engineering and management. Dr. Rajai has more than 20 years of experience in higher education and in industry, having held several faculty and administrative positions in both areas. He has published several books, more than 50 articles and has been awarded more than $2,000,000 in grants and contracts. Major international televisions networks—including CNN, ABC, and BBC, along with numerous newspapers and radio stations have interviewed him during the past 15 years. He has also received several awards for teaching and research.

Dr. Rajai’s vision and skills have been the hallmark of his career and have resulted in major success for the universities, companies, organizations and students he has served.

Vice-Chairman
William E. Fitzgibbon, University of Houston

William E. Fitzgibbon, III, earned his B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Vanderbilt University in 1968 and 1972 respectively.  He currently serves as Dean of the College of Technology at the University of Houston and holds professorial rank in both the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Engineering Technology at the University of Houston. Previously, he served as Chair of the Department of the Mathematics, Co-Head of the Department of Computer Science and President of the University of Houston Faculty Senate.  Currently he is Dean of the College of Technology of the University of Houston. Over the course of his career, Dr. Fitzgibbon has held faculty positions at the University of California, San Diego, the University of Bordeaux I and the University of Bordeaux II as well as a research position at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois. His academic discipline is applied mathematics with a specialization in mathematical biology (mathematical models in epidemiology and ecology), reactive flow, nonlinear partial differential equations and integro-differential equations.  Dr. Fitzgibbon has more than 130 research articles, plus numerous articles, reviews, and reports.  Additionally he has lectured extensively in North America, Europe and Asia.

He serves on the Advisory Board of Directors at the Houston Technology Center, the Board of Advisors for the Abramson Family Center for the Future of Health (a cooperative venture of the University of Houston and the Methodist Hospital, and the Technion), the honorary editorial board of Infectious Disease: Research and Treatment (2008), and on the Board of Advisors, Dean and Provost, LPR Publications, Horsham, Pennsylvania. He is also Vice President of Innovative Computing for Advanced Technology. His professional memberships include, the American Mathematical Society, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the American Society for Engineering Education, the Society of Mathematical Biology, the Irish Mathematical Society, the Keck Center for Computational Biology (a consortium of University of Houston, Rice, and the Baylor College of Medicine), the Houston World Affairs Council, Technology Executive Club Houston, Houston Petroleum Club, Omicron Delta Kappa, Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Beta Delta, Pi Mu Epsilon, and Tau Alpha Pi.

Walter Buchanan, Texas A&M University

Before arriving at Texas A&M, Dr. Walter Buchanan served in various professorial and administrative positions at Indiana University, Purdue University Indianapolis, the University of Central Florida, Middle Tennessee State University, Oregon Institute of Technology, and Northeastern University. While in industry, he was an engineer for the Martin Company, the Boeing Company, the U.S. Navy, and the Naval Avionics Center. He has also been a consultant for more than 20 organizations. Dr. Buchanan is Chair of the Engineering Technology Council of ASEE, Chair of the Professional Engineers in Higher Education of NSPE, a past member of the Executive Committee of TAC of ABET, and on the editorial boards of the Journal of Engineering Technology, the International Journal of Modern Engineering, and Chair of the National Engineering Technology Education Clearinghouse. He is the receipient of NSF grants, is the author of more than 100 professional publications, and a Fellow of ASEE and NSPE.

Niaz Latif, Purdue University

Dr. Niaz Latif is the Dean of the School of Technology at Purdue University Calumet (PUC). He is also the Dean of the Graduate School at PUC. Dr. Latif served as an Assistant Dean for Statewide Technology Administration in the College of Technology at Purdue University, West Lafayette, before joining PUC in 2007.

Dr. Latif’s academic career began as an instructor of engineering at Louisiana State University-Eunice. Before joining Purdue University as a Professor in the Department of Industrial Technology in 1999, he taught as an Assistant and Associate Professor at Northern Kentucky University.  Administratively, Latif served as the director of the Technical Services Institute and Coordinator of the Engineering Technology programs at Northern Kentucky University. Upon joining Purdue University, West Lafayette, in 1999, he was appointed Head of the Department of Industrial Technology.  He is a commissioner of the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC of ABET).  Dr. Latif  has served (2005-2007) as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Engineering Technology and currently he is on the Editorial Board of the journal.  He served as the Chair of the Executive Board of the National Association of Industrial Technology (2001-2003). He is a Board member of the Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana and Hammond Innovation Center-Indiana.

Danny Glaiborne, Murray State University

Dr. Danny Claiborne is a well-known figure in academia and industry. He is currently the Department Chair for Industrial and Engineering Technology (IET) at Murray State University, which is considered the only public Ivy League university in the state of Kentucky. Dr. Claiborne works with 22 faculty and more than 600 students in the Department of IET. He works closely with business and industry to develop strong relationships for internships, cooperative education, and full-time employment for the students.

Dr. Claiborne has served as a member of Telecommunication Systems Management (TSM) national advisory board since 2005. Dr. Claiborne is currently the Associate Director of a high-quality academic program in TSM in Kentucky. For Murray State University (MSU) to address regional and national public and private sector needs, the Center for Telecommunications Systems Management (CTSM) at MSU was established. Dr. Claiborne’s research and grant-funding activities have developed strong relationships with regional companies, state and national institutions, and federal organizations to provide more than 3 million dollars of support to MSU.

George Sehi, Sinclair Community College

Dr. George H. Sehi is the Dean of the Science, Mathematics and Engineering division at Sinclair Community College.  He has served the educational community in southwestern Ohio for 22 years. His success as Dean is founded upon his experience as an administrator and consultant for multiple colleges, universities and companies throughout the nation. Dr. Sehi has served on numerous community boards and work groups striving to improve the economic well being of the region.  Dr. Sehi has taught various subjects related to mechanical and civil engineering such as Engineering Management, Soil Mechanics, Highway Design, Static, Dynamic, Structural Analysis and Engineering Economics.  More than 70 academic institutions across the United States and abroad have benefited from his expertise. He has been a consulting evaluator for North Central Association, TAC/ABET, ACICS and other accrediting commissions. Dr. Sehi received the Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement from the Engineering and Science Foundation of Dayton in 1998 and also received the 1999 Frederick J. Berger award from the American Society for Engineering Education. Dr. Sehi has been a national speaker and consultant in Canada, Japan, Germany, Mexico, Iran, Singapore and China.

Jacues Periaux, University of Jyväskylä, Finland

Dr. Jacques Periaux is a Senior Adviser Fellow of Dassault Aviation and visiting professor at the University of Jyväskylä. He is a founder and Vice President of ECCOMAS organization. Jacques Periaux completed his Ph.D. on numerical analysis at the University of Paris in 1979. He is an expert in aeronautics and has worked many years for Dassault Aviation, a French airplane manufacturer, as an expert and in consulting and management. His main research areas are solving nonlinear partial differential equations in the fields of computational flow dynamics and electromagnetic, aerodynamic design of manned and non-manned aircrafts, multidisciplinary optimization design, evolution algorithms, and game theory. He participated as invited lecturer in several summer schools, short courses and workshop in the United States, India, Finland, Belgium, Russia, Uzbekistan, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Australia. He holds positions and is a member of editorial boards of numerous international journals and scientific associations. Additionally, Dr. Periaux has more than 175 papers in journals, conference proceedings, chapters of collective books and scientific reviews on an international scale. He is a co-editor of 42 books and has six books in preparation, both with and without collaborators.
